I am seeing some great coats, a lot with faux fur collars. Last year, designers were big on using fur (real and faux) and so it is not surprising to see it filter down to the "regular" consumer level.
I live in Canada and so I'd like to think of myself as a professional on a good winter coat. I love big warm collars because 90% of the time the big thing that is causing you major winter grief is wind.
These coats above are not labeled with designers' names. They are standard coats that go into 80% of the retail stores that are in North America (and obviously where winters are big).
I have tons, TONS of coats to go through over the next couple of weeks and place my orders based on what buyers (the stores) want. I am thinking of starting up an alternate site where I will feature just coats for now and then move onto blouses, dresses and shirts. I am still thinking of a reasonable way to do returns and exchanges. Give me a day or two and I'm sure I will figure out the cost to price ratios that will allow the return process run more smoothly.
The coats above would retail about $300 to $400USD in the large retail stores and also the smaller boutiques. There is enough of a mark up in that price so that when you see the 50% off signs at the end of the season, the retailers are still making money on the coat. So instead of having all that mark up, winter sale and eventually clearance, I'm just going to mark the coats at the price that they are worth - about $100 to $150USD.
Happy Shopping!!
