I'm always a bit take aback by how popular LV Monogram still is. It's not that it's ugly or anything, but it's so....EVERYWHERE that I would think folks would kinda want to steer clear of it.
But since I have been "told", I am going to have a Monogram LV bag for sale NEXT WEEK (as in not starting today - yes, people are pre-booking the sales! Hahahaha).
It's one of my most popular bags - Monogram Boetie GM.
This is a LARGE bag. It's awesome. It's very well made and it's very, very sturdy and ready for big loads. I do have to admit, I do like trusted Monogram for that.
Having said that, this handbag has the same qualities as the real thing. For instance, the leather is typical and it starts out yellowish in colour - brand new - and then darkens to a very nice dark tan / brown leather.
Other areas where the leather is, like near the bottom of the bag, will dark slower and so the bag will have a very nice marbled look, darker on the handles and lighter dark in other areas.
I get this question all the time, but that is INTENTIONAL. It's NOT the sign of a bag replica. Real LV bags are designed to darken over time. I know some of you must be rolling your eyes at this (well versed LV fans) but I get it all the time. People writing to me, kinda upset, that their LV Monogram leather is changing colours!
I sell A LOT of Monogram bags and I think I move the Boetie, Beverley, Manhattan, Neverfull and Batignolles the most.
The Monogram Canvas part is also a bit confusing to some people. This part of the bag is NOT leather. It is a canvas material, designed and patented by LV, and it has a waterproofing treatment that allows for rain water or spills to dribble off the bag. If you have ever had coffee spill on a leather or canvas bag (name the day, it happens to me daily), you'll know that some leathers stain very easily, and then you have a lovely coffee stain on a handbag. LV Monogram Canvas will not take the stain. The coffee / liquid will just bead up and fall off. I don't suggest you try this with all liquids. You know, you might not want to try to see if it works with salad dressing, for instance.
All those bags are put in the same factory storage room. That's a lot of waterproof chemical smell coming out from one concentrated area. And so if you buy a replica, and receive it, it will have a strong smell to it. Yes, it's not an attractive smell but even if you were to buy an original LV product, it will have a fairly strong smell to it. Not anywhere near as strong as the replica though. Why? LV itself makes A LOT less products than the replica companies. Yes, it's true.
Do not fear, the smell dissipates over a there day period. If you're like me and are very sensitive to smells, I would leave the bag out (in a basement or far away from you) for about three days and then start using it. You will find that the smell is completely gone by that time.
There is no reason to panic that you got a bad replica or that your replica is crap because it has a chemically smell to it. Again, all Monogram, including the real ones, have that same smell. Again, the real ones are lighter smelling because they are not sitting in a LARGE warehouse with MILLIONS of other LV Monogram products.
If you have any questions about Monogram products, don't hesitate in contacting me.
The LV Monogram Boetie GM is usually $260USD. It will be on sale for $200USD!!!.
Happy Shopping!!
