And I have to be honest, while this bag is very well made and will last you a good long time, I was never a fan of the Jackie handbag.
But after spending a few hours coding each of these bags and seeing the variety of colours and styles, I am a reformed person. I can see why this bag is a BIG, BIG seller on my site.
Now if you're a card carrying member of Peta (I have no idea what you'd be doing buying leather handbags in the first place) but you're really going to get your knickers in a knot over some of the materials used to make the Jackie. The three bags above are all horse hair.
The best styles, and the most bang for you money, are definitely the ones made with the Guccissima leather.
They are sturdy, made with real cow hide and very very well done as far as replicas go.
And as far as versatility goes, these are the bags that will take you from office meetings out to drinks with the client.
Then of course there are the Jackies made with rabbit hair.
I know this is going to sound bad and I hope the kids don't hear me (we've been talking of getting a pet rabbit, but I really like these ones...I'm sorry Thumper!).
A lot of Gucci bags are coming out in the season's hot colour: Grey and Taupe. Here is a distressed leather in the taupe and brown.
Of all the Jackie handbags, this one does the least for me.
I know I have girlfriends that are absolutely ga ga over these ones as they find the smooth leather to be true to Jackie styling.
It always comes down to personal preference. And I think Gucci is smart.
They make a handbag for just about everyone.
And of course the other very hot item for the season, despite many public protests, is the exotic leathers.
LV was most criticized as they have fur trim, fur everything in the 2010 season (you can see Kanye West and his man bride, Amber Rose, wearing head to toe fur at the LV Paris fashion show).
I've seen these Jackie bags up close and personal and I personally don't think the exotic leather is done well. I love this bag (new found love) but I'd steer clear of this brand's exotic leather, especially the mock croc and alligator skin.
If however you really want a hot and sexy look for 2010, go for the mock Ostrich skin.
It's one of the most wanted looks and as far as exotic leathers go, one of the more believable ones. I mean who's gonna call you on it? Someone who works for Animal Planet? I know none of my friends are able to tell if it's real Ostrich or not!
Another really hot look for this season is the snake skin patterns.
I know, rabbit, snake, it feels like the 70's again!
As far as monogram GG, there are several Jackie handbags, including the signature waterproof version.
All Jackie handbags have gold trim and come with bamboo accents/beading on the tassels. There has been a strong request for the Jackie handbag (hence this mother of a post!) and so I might put it on sale in a near future.
Jackie bags are $260USD or $270USD (the furry ones).
Happy Shopping!!
